About Green Deal

What is Green Deal ?

Set to launch in October 2012, the Government’s Green Deal initiative offers householders and small businesses access to energy saving products and services with little or no upfront installation costs. Home improvements such as boiler replacements, solid wall insulation and solar panels can be installed for free and then paid for over a period of up to 25 years through the customer’s energy bills.

Green Deal 2012

Through monthly or quarterly installments, a proportion of the money saved on fuel bills will be used to cover installation costs, helping Green Deal customers save energy and money throughout the life time of the scheme.

What’s more, the cost of a Green Deal service is attached to the property not the customer, so even if you sell your house the Green Deal repayments will just get reassigned to the new homeowner.

The Golden Rule

Unlike other finance models, Green Deal repayments are set at a lower rate than the energy savings attained on utility bills. Therefore customers can save energy through their installation and be financially better off without paying a penny.

Customer contributions will only be required when the cost of a Green Deal installation is greater than the equivalent fuel bill saving. This would usually affect homes with higher efficiency ratings or customers that choose to install multiple energy saving measures under the scheme.

Every UK householder or company wishing to save energy now has a fantastic opportunity to improve their properties efficiency in the most economic way with little or no upfront costs.

As part of your Green Deal application, your home or business outlet will be assessed to check its suitability for energy saving services. An action plan will then be produced which will indicate the range of services available to your specific property and the expected energy bill savings that these would offer. The payback period will be indicated in the plan against every possible service to signify how your future energy bill savings will cover your installation costs.

As a pioneer Green Deal provider, Yorkshire Energy Services can provide and manage the neccecery finance to cover your installation over the 25 year timeframe. We can also connect you to an acredited network of installers to carry out the work.
